One Stop Centre (OSC) is intended to provide integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence, in private and public spaces under one roof and facilitate immediate emergency and non-emergency access to a range of services including medical, legal, temporary shelter, police assistance, psychological and counselling support to fight against any forms of violence against women. 34 OSC are functioning covering all districts.
The Women Help Line (181) provide Toll free 24 hours telecom service to women seeking support and information by connecting them with emergency response support system for all emergency services like police, fire, ambulance service and with One Stop Centers. The WHL will also provide information about Government schemes/programs, facilities and will also connect women with the statutory officers under various legislations like child marriage protection officers etc. as per requirement within the local area in which she resides or is employed. Integration with Children & Women Helpline No (WHL) is under process. It’s located at Beltola, Guwahati.
Scheme has been launched to celebrate the Girl Child and enable her education and empowerment. It has been expanded to cover all the districts of the State of Assam. Where State of Assam provides training to DHEW under BBBP.
A new component for providing women with an alternate Grievance Redressal Mechanism for resolving cases of harassment, subversion, curtailment of rights or entitlements faced by women at Gram Panchayat level in a phased manner. The platform will be utilized for engaging with the public for awareness generation and getting feedback for improvement in the schemes and for effective public delivery of services. Now Govt. of India decided to implement the scheme of Nari Adalath on pilot basis in the State of Assam.
Ministry of Women and Child Development have introduced Mission Shakti, a concerted effort in a mission mode to ensure gender equality, women empowerment and to strengthen women safety and security. To provide rehabilitation services both immediate and long-term to the victims by providing basic amenities/needs such as shelter, food, clothing, medical treatment including counselling, legal aid and guidance and vocational training. At present State of Assam is implementing 35 nos. of Shakti Sadan through NGOs.
Read The GuidelinesThe objective of the scheme is to promote availability of safe and conveniently located accommodation for working women, with day care facility for their children, wherever possible, in urban, semi urban, or even rural areas where employment opportunity for women exist. 8 Working Women Hostels are functional in 8 no. of districts of Assam. Namely- Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Dima Hasao, Kamrup(M)- (2) Kamrup (R), Sonitpur.
A creche is a facility which enables parent to leave their children while they are at work and where children are provided stimulating environment for their holistic development. Creches are designed to provide group care to children up to 6 months to 6 years of age, who need care, guidance and supervision away from their home during the day. 145 stand-alone Creches are running throughout the state of Assam which are run by NGOs.
The Objectives of the PMMVY is to provide cash incentive for partial compensation for the wage loss so that the woman can take adequate rest before and after delivery of the first child; and to improve health seeking behaviour amongst the Pregnant Women & Lactating Mothers (PW&LM). The scheme also seeks to promote positive behavioural change towards girl child by providing additional cash incentive for the second child, if that is a girl child. Since inception i.e. Jan 2017 till date in the State of Assam more than 9 lakhs beneficiaries have received the benefits under the scheme and an amount of Rs.450/- crore (approx.) has been disbursed through DBT payment.
